Wie ich schon schrob<\/del> schrieb, baue ich gerade den peruanischen Urwald um Kuelap<\/a> nach. Das an sich interessiert niemanden, der das nicht auch versucht hat. Aber vielleicht kann ich erkl\u00e4ren, warum mein Werk als „Kunst“ gelten k\u00f6nnte und was das mit Literatur zu tun hat.<\/p>\n

Literatur? Du erfindest eine Geschichte und hoffst, dass dreieinhalb Leser Spa\u00df damit haben. Ich bin nicht so unbescheiden wie Johann Wolfgang von Goethe: „Wer nicht eine Million Leser erwartet, sollte keine Zeile schreiben.“ Eines meiner B\u00fccher hatte eine Auflage von 26.000 – das war das Maximum, das ich bisher erreichte. Die Konquistadoren wurden immerhin rund 8.000 Mal verkauft, die gesamte erste Auflage.<\/p>\n

Ein Rollenspiel-Plot in Secondlife erreicht nur eine zweistellige Zahl von Interessenten, und man verdient gar nichts daran. Im Unterschied zu Literatur spielen aber andere die Story, die als Basis f\u00fcr ein Event gilt, nach. <\/p>\n

The Lost Bridge and the Inca Warrior<\/h3>\n

TINGO, PERU. Near the famous ruins of Ku\u00e9lap, an old bridge deep in the jungle may point to an archaeological discovery that has been overlooked for more than half a century.<\/p>\n

The event agency Navargento Pictures recently established a jungle camp near Ku\u00e9lap, offering guided expeditions into the surrounding rainforest. Visitors reported an unusual sight: a bridge crossing the R\u00edo Utcubamba, apparently without any road leading to or from it.<\/p>\n

Research by Peru Noticias indicates that the bridge was built in 1969 as part of a planned road. The project was abandoned before the road was completed. At the time, the remote area was considered unsafe because of smuggling activities and remained largely unexplored.<\/p>\n

But the bridge itself is not the most intriguing part of the story.<\/p>\n

In our newspaper archives, Peru Noticias discovered a photograph taken during construction in 1969. It shows two workers wearing helmets and posing proudly with their shovels beside the new bridge. Between them stands a large stone figure whose appearance strongly suggests an Inca origin.<\/p>\n

Reports from the period mention rumors among the workers that the remains of an ancient temple were hidden somewhere nearby. No archaeological investigation followed, and when the road project was abandoned, the story was forgotten.<\/p>\n

The statue, however, was not lost.<\/p>\n

It is still there.<\/p>\n

More than 50 years later, the stone warrior remains near the abandoned bridge, surrounded by dense jungle vegetation.<\/p>\n

That raises an intriguing historical question: What were the Inca doing at this particular location?<\/p>\n

The Chachapoya<\/a> controlled much of what is now Peru’s Amazonas region, with Ku\u00e9lap as their most famous monumental site. Around 1475, only a few decades before the arrival of the Spaniards, the expanding Inca Empire conquered the Chachapoya.<\/p>\n

The Inca established roads, administrative centers, military posts and other installations throughout conquered territories. An Inca presence in the Utcubamba Valley would therefore not be unexpected. But a previously unknown Inca ceremonial or administrative complex close to Ku\u00e9lap could provide important evidence about how the Inca controlled the newly conquered Chachapoya territory.<\/p>\n

For now, the mysterious temple remains only a rumor from 1969.<\/p>\n

But the first clue is no longer a rumor. Deep in the vegetation stands a bridge leading nowhere \u2013 and beside it, just as in the old photograph, the stone Inca warrior is still waiting.<\/p>\n

Von dort auf erkunden sie den gef\u00e4hrlichen Dschungel und entdecken auch irgendwann – hoffentlich! – den Tempel. Und dann werden sie alle entf\u00fchrt und mit einem Raumschiff nach Gor gebracht, wie beim letzten Mal aus Amsterdam<\/a>.<\/del> <\/p>\n
