Schmidt kommentiert auf Facebook: „Sorry, aber die chinesischen Staatsmedien haben einmal mehr Recht. „In China, some state media and online commentators declared Trump\u2019s \u201cAmerica first\u201d policy a failure in light of the mass demonstrations, saying the contrast with the parade reflected the United States\u2019 \u201cuncertain future\u201d. \u201cThe parade reflects [Trump\u2019s] urgency to proclaim that \u2018America is great again\u2019 \u2026 Yet, no matter how it\u2019s staged, it only reinforces the sense that the halo of the United States is fading, and its deep-rooted institutional problems remain unresolved,\u201d state-run Beijing Daily said in a commentary.<\/p>\n

\u201cInstead, it evokes deja vu of \u2018the setting sun\u2019s afterglow\u2019 and \u2018a past that cannot be reclaimed\u2019.\u201d
\nChinanews.com, another state-run outlet, said the day symbolised how \u201cdemocracy is struggling in the mud\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn this day, there are celebrations and protests… In 2025, the United States is moving towards an uncertain tomorrow \u2013 amid gunfire and slogans,\u201d it said.“<\/p>\n
